The Adventures of Super Librarian

Posted by Andy

So far we've had the Gorilla Librarian and Conan the Librarian, this could run and run methinks. Well perhaps this is the cheesiest of the three, although anyone would struggle to compete with Monty Python in the comedy stakes.

So anyway take a minute out with the World's latest super human, although we know that most librarians and information bods have to be a little super human sometimes when it comes down to dealing with some customers...

UK Academic Library Blogs Research

Posted by Andy

A student from the University of the West of England named Keir Hopwood has created a blog, which details their MSc ILM research project on UK academic library blogs .http://ukbiblioblogosphere.blogspot.com/

The main purpose of the blog is to detail the progress and any interesting milestones in the research and writing process itself.

The part which caught our eye is that Keir has created an updated "directory" of UK academic library blogs at http://del.icio.us/ukbiblioblogosphere - And as you would expect, it includes our own ScHARR Library Blog in the list.
Obviously like all online lists and driectories, they are almost impossible to keep up to date and are rarely a comprehensive collection. Nevertheless, this looks a useful reflection of the current state of play in the land of academic library blogs.

Blogging in an Academic Health Library Setting

Posted by Andy
OK, I'm not going to start writing in third person pretending to be someone else, an old journalist's trick when they're trying to add that little bit of extra credence to their scribbles, to tell you about an article i've written about our beloved blog for a special Web 2.0 issue of Libraries for Nursing Bulletin.
The piece titled; 'Blogging in an Academic Health Library Setting - The Case of the ScHARR Library Blog' looks at how we devised, built and styled our weblog.
For more information on the bulletin, point your browser (what a great phrase) to: http://www.cilip.org.uk/specialinterestgroups/bysubject/lfn
This latest issue features articles on Intute, Blasting into the Blogosphere: a Blog as a Communication Tool for Libraries; as well as a review of a our own FOLIO Workshop (we didn't write it!).
While we are in the business of shameless self-plugging, if there are any cricket fans out there, I've also published a tongue-in-cheek article about our own England Cricket Team in the latest copy of Yes..No..Sorry which can be bought from most county cricket clubs.
